School & Setting Visits
At Noel Smith Stories, we don’t just read the stories aloud — we jump right into them! Bring the book to life with a fun and engaging sensory storytelling session by Noel Smith.
Our sensory story reading sessions are full of imagination, movement and surprises that bring the story to life and make each visit memorable and inclusive. Rather than simply hearing a story, children help bring it to life which deepens engagement and enjoyment.
Using sensory elements help children experience stories through different learning styles (visual, auditory, tactile and kinaesthetic) which supports a deeper level of understanding and memory retention.
Participating in a shared story experience gives children opportunities to contribute, respond and be heard which helps them build self confidence. Through discussion, participation and shared storytelling children can build vocabulary, listening skills and expressive language in communicating ideas.
The sensory elements have been developed based on Noel’s 20+ years of experience working and caring for children and young adults with Special Educational Needs (including Autism Spectrum Disorder.) This allows an opportunity for inclusive learning and can support connection, curiosity and enjoyment in a way traditional story sessions may not. For many children with additional needs, engaging multiple senses can improve attention, understanding and participation. Sensory experiences help make abstract ideas concrete which supports understanding, communication and memory, while enabling children to connect with stories in ways that suit their individual strengths, needs and ways of learning.
