On the 27th of June 2024, a little dream of mine took flight — our very first children’s picture book The Adventures of Mr Bumble was released into the world. What began as a story written with hope and big dreams has grown wings far beyond what I could have ever imagined. Over the past year, I’ve had the joy and privilege of sharing Mr Bumble’s journey with hundreds, if not thousands, of children across Northern Ireland.
From cosy corners in 12 libraries, to the buzzing classrooms of 37 schools and the playful energy of 26 day cares.
I’ve been welcomed into spaces filled with laughter, curiosity and boundless imagination. One of the greatest rewards of this journey has been the chance to experience the story through the children’s eyes. Their excitement and giggles, questions and wide-eyed wonder allow me to relive the magic of Mr Bumble for the very first time again and again. The reviews and feedback have been overwhelmingly positive, but more than that, it’s the connections I’ve made with the young readers — and the joy they take from the story — that mean the most. Every smile, every drawing of Mr Bumble handed to me and every eager question about what happens next… these are the real treasures.
I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported The Adventures of Mr Bumble this past year — the schools, teachers, librarians, parents and most importantly, the young readers.
