Our first children’s picture book ‘The Adventures of Mr. Bumble’ has been on the shelves for almost six months! In that time I have visited lots of different day care centres, nursery and primary schools across Northern Ireland and even travelled to France to share the story with a bilingual school just outside of Paris! The most exciting part of visiting the boys and girls at all of these different places is to share in their excitement, curiosity and imagination. I am beyond flattered that I get to create moments of discovery in their educational journey. Watching children learn and engage as they follow Mr. Bumble on his journey is currently my biggest joy and proudest achievement. The questions they ask and the conversations the book inspires is a small part of their learning journey and hopefully provides life long lessons they will never forget. Each visit reminds me why I wrote this book in the first place: to inspire a love for storytelling and exploration. I can not wait to visit more locations over the remainder of the school year! The fun doesn’t stop when I leave either, to keep their creativity flowing I provide colouring pages of characters from the book as an art activity. These tiny pages are a chance for children to add their own touch to Mr. Bumble’s world and make it their own.
